ICC Computerized Physician Order Entry, (ICC CPOE) is a stand-alone prescription module that runs on the ICC technology platform. It is a core critical function of the intelligent CIS. Attending and consulting physicians use this advanced module as a prescription tool where they enter all doctor orders electronically. This is done through a uniquely user friendly screen. It is the result of more than ten year of controlled use in various clinical environments from private practice to tertiary care.

Prescriptions and other orders are entered electronically into the CIS which then moves the information through multiple levels where it is checked against known patient data, including demographics, allergies, drug interaction, standards, dosage and other factors that can lead to alerts or modification recommendations. This can be use in the office, by the bedside or from a remote location. Benefits include decision support, best practice guidelines, rapid electronic transmission of orders to the nursing station, care plan, Personal Health Record and the pharmacy. Problems such as dosage errors and mistakes due to poor hand writing are eliminated.

All ICC implementations include the installation of grid-independent workstations throughout the site. In all cases, ICC allows for immediate data entry and instantaneous transmission and recording.
