Inside ICC Oncology CIS
Information Sharing
Using the automated clinical tools in the ICC Oncology CIS means that all patient care, prescriptions and orders are documented in an electronic media that is readily available throughout the facility and from outside through remote access.
At the heart of ICC Oncology CIS, practitioners use a unique oncology Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) module with more than 30 levels of decision support. This is an expert system with a knowledge base and an inference engine that validates information provided based on algorithms that thoroughly support local practice as well as the newest protocols available.
Once the system has integrated the right clinical data vertically it is then available laterally across the entire all locations where caregivers are attending the patient. The entire care team has access to all patient data, including imaging, at all times in a seamless connection that provides all caregivers with a complete overview of the patient status.
The resulting efficiencies mean that prescription, charting and data registration is only entered once, obviating the need for redundant work in parallel disjointed systems. Thus a genuine global community of care is created around the patient and his needs.
Validating Treatment
A clinical information system gives caregivers the ability to review recommended treatment protocols and the underlying clinical data such as vital signs, labs and pathology results, in order to validate the proposed course of action. ICC Oncology CIS contains advanced features such as Physician Order Entry with expert pharmacological content, complete staging, chemotherapy management in real time with the automated precise calculation of dosage before initiating treatment. It also calculates the cumulative lifetime dose, provides the clinical notes and all other charting features including the MAR. A dynamic flow of thousands of oncology algorithms are connected, providing expert decision support at point of care, rather than mere review after the fact. The subsequent information generated and modified flows into ICC´s intelligent EHR where, in conjunction with patient demographics and other administrative factors, it becomes a complete cancer patient management application for the entire care team.
