Why The ICC Tumor Registry?

Power Of Knowledge

Most current registries are all limited by the fact that they all require manual data entry. Not only is this time consuming, it is most often inefficient and does not provide the quality of data required. In many instances, data is incomplete or at best fragmented.

Most cancer registries are maintained manually which makes them costly to operate. Few are automated and most lack the detail, accuracy, and flexibility to be truly responsive. Given such shortcomings, many cancer registries are almost unusable, riddled with errors and take years to yield usable results.

All of this is now left behind as ICC introduces a new generation of fully automated registries.

ICC Tumor Registry In Action

Over and above their contribution to enhancing cancer care, effective tumor registries are expected to:

  • Monitor cancer trends over time
  • Determine cancer patterns in various populations
  • Guide planning and evaluation of cancer control programs
  • Help set priorities for allocating health resources
  • Advance clinical, epidemiologic, and health services research
  • Provide potentially information for a national database of cancer incidence
  • Help to assess the impact of cancer prevention and control efforts
  • Respond to reports of suspected increases in cancer occurrence
  • Help to compare the patterns of care that cancer patients receive
